Chatsworth lion bookends
Product description
These lions are reproductions of lions originally made by Antonio Canova for the Rezzonico monument in St. Peters, Rome.
The Chatsworth lions, seen in the Sculpture Gallery, are copies after Canova's originals commissioned by the 6th Duke of Devonshire. The Sleeping Lion was made by Rinaldo Rinaldi and the Crouching Lion was made by Francesco Benaglia, each weighing 3.5 tonnes of Carara marble.
Both lion bookends are 15cm tall and the bases are 9.5 x 12.5cm.
